Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Make the Dough
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • In a large bowl, beat butter and both sugars until fluffy (2–3 minutes).
  • Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Step 2: Roll and Cut
  • Flour your work surface. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness.
  • Cut out hearts with cookie cutters and place on parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  • Re-roll scraps and repeat.
  • Step 3: Bake
  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are just golden.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
  • Step 4: Decorate (Optional)
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate or white chocolate.
  • Add sprinkles, edible glitter, or colored sanding sugar for a festive touch.
