Step 1: Make the Dough
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
In a large bowl, beat butter and both sugars until fluffy (2–3 minutes).
Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
Gradually add dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Step 2: Roll and Cut
Flour your work surface. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness.
Cut out hearts with cookie cutters and place on parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
Re-roll scraps and repeat.
Step 3: Bake
Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are just golden.
Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Step 4: Decorate (Optional)
Drizzle with melted chocolate or white chocolate.
Add sprinkles, edible glitter, or colored sanding sugar for a festive touch.
