🍞 Classic Homemade White Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup warm water 110Β°F/43Β°C
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2ΒΌ tsp 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2Β½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Activate the Yeast
  • In a small bowl, stir together warm water and sugar.
  • Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  • Step 2: Mix the Dough
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until a rough dough forms.
  • Step 3: Knead the Dough
  • Transfer to a lightly floured surface.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Add flour, 1 tbsp at a time, if too sticky.
  • Step 4: First Rise
  • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel.
  • Let rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours, or until doubled.
  • Step 5: Shape the Loaf
  • Punch down dough and shape into a loaf.
  • Place in a greased 9Γ—5-inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  • Step 6: Bake
  • Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Step 7: Cool & Slice
  • Let loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Cool completely before slicing for best results.
